Welcome to My Research Project
Learning process have been speculated and thoroughly studied.
Robotics Programs' effects on teens have been speculated and thoroughly studied. The combination of the 2 have been speculated, but not really studied. With this project, I hope to provide just one more perspective on this limited field of study. |

This is part of a year long high school research class where individual students are expected to do their own research, conduct their own experiments, and produce a paper and presentation to report their own findings.
My project uses the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) as the base high-school robotics program to explore how different factors (such as prior STEM experience, team structure, mentor involvement, etc) may effect students' experience and growth within the program over a single season. |
I'm currently in the first stage of my data collection. All of the tests and surveys are designed to be short enough so participation in this study won't be a huge time commitment. Check out the full description of the study here.
I'm also in need of a few mentors who are willing to give inputs on the design of my "evaluation test", which will test on the student's knowledge on robotics related topics. **These mentors will not be completing surveys and participating in experiments; however, their associated team(s) is still welcomed to do so. |
FIRST is more than robots. The robots are a vehicle for students to learn important life skills. Kids often come in not knowing what to expect - of the program nor of themselves. They leave, even after the first season, with a vision, with confidence, and with a sense that they can create their own future.
